As someone who views the ocean as a second home, making art from it fuels my soul and motivates me to protect, educate, and learn about the world’s oceans. Whether it’s painting shells, surfboards that are no longer in use, working with sea glass and plastic pieces, and wood, and canvas boards, each one is sourced from Montauk, N.Y with lots of love.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I love creating it!

“Erosion and Invasion”

See these tiny pieces of plastic? Well they came from bigger pieces of plastic that were thrown away. Aka microplastics!

A study by Borrelle at al. estimated that 23 million metric tons of plastic waste polluted aquatic systems in 2016 alone. Terrifying, I know.

But please don’t let that stop you from learning about the positive actions that numerous governmental and non-profit organizations have been doing.

Each piece of sea glass and plastic are from Nay Beach, Montauk, N.Y. Each time I went for a swim with my dog, I kept a lookout for these pieces, as if each one was waiting for me to create this project. (My favorite work yet!) One detail that I immediately thought of was, “these plastic pieces resemble some sea glass!”. There’s times where I get so excited to find sea glass and then realizing it’s blue plastic in my hand—we’ve all been there unfortunately.

The first of the painted surfboard collection

Blue lilies $220

Back in May 2025, I decided to start painting surfboards that couldn’t be repaired. My brother gave me his old surfboard and after cleaning and painting it, the finished product is exactly as I pictured it. Each lily flower is hand painted with my unique signature at the bottom of the board. The board is then finished with a protective clear coat.
