The privilege of traveling

Take a close look at this picture for this post. What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’ve always wanted to? (Imagine that money does not matter in this case).

For me, it’s traveling the world as I write about environmental conservation, different cultures and how they help protect their environment and how they struggle with it. Immersing myself into a completely different country where I don’t know a single person is exactly what I want. By doing that, there will most likely be friendships along the way.

Being able to travel is a huge privilege. I haven’t been to many places, but I agree that it’s one of the best educations anyone can get! It’s an opportunity to step away from “the tourist bubble” and dive into the local culture. Get inspired by Anthony Bourdain who will always be known as the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) at least in my opinion.

The iconic movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) directed by Ben Stiller, inspires viewers to stand up from your desk and take that chance to see the world. He goes from working at LIFE magazine (which is pretty cool), to jumping out of a helicopter into the Atlantic Ocean, fighting a shark, skateboarding along the windy roads of Iceland, and hiking the Himalayas. Now that is some serious lore for his family.

Doing that spontaneous trip or hike, or whatever it is is worth it. If you have the time and finances now, do it. If you want to do it, then work hard and dream big because it is possible.

So, after all that reading did you pick that one thing off your bucket list? Now make it possible!
